Are Job site fans worth it?
Main Post:
Where I work this past week was 108-110 and this will be about the average for the rest of the summer other than the off week of it being in the 90s or even higher like 120, that happened last year. I was wondering if a job site fan is worth the money for roughing in houses sometimes I’m in a constant state of moving and not in one spot for to long other than doing some parts of the rough in process.

What's your Opinion on personal fans? Do you use one for work or do you think it's a waste of space?
Main Post:
I personally think a fan is honestly a pretty underrated purchase. I worked with my journeyman who uses a fan, and after working in some hot and humid conditions I came around to the idea of buying my own fan and frankly I think it's an elite purchase. It helps keep you cool and comfortable while you're working and a side benefit of helping to keep you cool is that it helps remove most of the fogging I experience on my safety glasses. Most people tend to go with an 18volt fan buy personally I think the M12 fan is the way to go. Sure the M18 or any other 18 volt fan is logically gonna be a more powerful but the area where M12 shines is in it's versatility it has 2 strong rare earth magnets to help attach it to metal surfaces and it also comes with clamp to help mount to other things like wood and it has 360° rotating head. Last week this fan came in clutch when I was working at the top of a scaffold getting the wiring ready for some lights it lasts all day on setting 1 with a 3.0 XC battery.

Smart switch that works for bathroom exhaust fans
Main Post:
I'm trying to automate my bathroom exhaust fans.. I picked up a Kasa (H200) switch, installed it 3 times, spent a few hours on it trying to figure out why it didnt work. Turns out its not compatible with fans. Weird.
Are there any smart switches out there (no hub, supports alexa/google home) that might work?
Thanks.
EDIT: It turned out to be an issue with a bad wire cap. I replaced it and it works now. The TP-link Kasa H200 does work with fans, at least the bathroom exhaust fans.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
Top Comment: Shelly relays are compatible. They are a relay not a switch. They are installed behind the dumb switch and can be controlled either with the dumb switch itself or with Amazon/Google/or other ecosystems over wifi. https://shelly.cloud/products/shelly-25-smart-home-automation-relay/

Any fans of William Thackeray’s stuff outside of Vanity Fair?
Main Post:
He’s almost exclusively known for that one novel but I delved into all his other major works recently - Pendennis, Barry Lyndon, Henry Esmond and The Virginian - and find that I love them just as much in terms of the plotting, character work, prose and rich historical detail!! He’s now one of my all-time favorite Victorian novelists alongside Dickens, Austen, Dumas, Scott and Tolstoy!
I’ve seen The Virginians get a pretty mixed response but honestly having just finished that one up last night I don’t agree with any of the criticisms aside from maybe the fact that it’s by far his most slow-burning story. I loved it for that though so I guess to each their own? I loved seeing so many historical figures from the Seven Years War and Revolutionary War pop up and just generally the atmosphere of colonial Virginia
Top Comment: I should check that title out. I also like to recommend 'The Luck of Barry Lyndon', which is much funnier than the infamous but somewhat dry film version.
